Ordering a Commissioned Painting and Payment-
"Commissioned" very simply means you are hiring me to paint a painting for you. That said, the process is very simple as well and only requires a few steps. I require the standard half payment up front payable by Credit Card, Bank Card, or PayPal.
Ordering- First contact me via email and/or phone and we can discuss your idea(s) and what you are looking for in particular. I'm a creative guy so don't feel pressured to communicate in Gallery talk. Learning who "you" are is my pleasure and something I'm pretty good at so being yourself goes a long way.
Payment- Once we come to terms on the painting(s), I will direct you to the Ordering page so you can send half up front for me to begin. I will electronically bill you the other half after you receive the painting and are completely satisfied.
The final invoice will include;
The remaining balance
Applicable domestic taxes
Shipping charges only if canvas exceeds 36X48 or is being shipped Internationally. See Shipping below.
Duties and International Taxes that may be applicable based on final destination outside the USA. - This varies by country so you may wish to visit your countries import/export laws and regulations for additional details. I will do my best to identify these costs up front for you.
Shipping-
Domestic Shipping and handling charges are covered in the listed prices.(See prices page for Commissioned work)
The only exceptions are
International shipping (will require additional shipping costs)
Shipping Canvas that exceeds 36x48 inches (which would mean a framed 36X48 canvas would require that you pay shipping charges)
Additional shipping as mentioned above will be determined at the time of purchase.
I ship all of my paintings with care that rivals Museum standards. It's expensive on my part but it only makes sense, I would never send you a painting I didn't fall in love with creating.
Modeling-
Defined: Models for Commissioned Work -The Models come to me with the intent that I take their photo for the purpose of Portrait Painting or Photo Art (Digital Art). These I work with priority and passion because you have seen my work and love it. There is no greater compliment!
Solicited Models -This simply means that I came to you because something about you stole my breath. I use these photos to create Non-Commissioned paintings either for gallery showings, sales, or personal collection (portfolio).
My policy on both Commissioned and Solicited Modeling-
I send a digital copy of all pictures, compositions, photo art, and a picture of the finished paintings to Solicited models as a token of appreciation and to Commissioned clients at no additional cost. I send photos via CD or email. My gift to you.
I will never publish a photo without a signed release from the model. This would be for example selling, sharing, or giving original photograph(s).
Furthermore, I will not publicize photos on my webpage without the consent of the model, not because of a legal obligation but because I think it’s the right thing to do, and I hope that your satisfaction leads you to become an avid collector of my work. This would be for example showing photograph(s) I worked from to create the painting or photo art.
Of course, I do retain the right to either publish or publicize images of my paintings themselves. The First Amendment assures Artists this right however I, for all the right reasons, want to do so only with your blessing. Again, your satisfaction takes precedence to me.
Copyright-
All of the images are subject to domestic and international Copyright laws. If you’d like to use one of my images, please let me know and I’m perfectly ok with that so long as your intent is not to sell or publish. If you wish to sell or publish please contact me first so that we may make arrangements.
Sending Images to me-
Please only send me non-copyrighted images or images that have the photographer’s written consent if they are copyrighted. If you took the photo(s), I will treat that by default as material copyrighted by you and the respect that deserves.
Any pictures you send via mail will be promptly returned to you if you include a self-address, stamped envelope.
I prefer to receive digital images via CD or email if you really want to know.
If you are sending images for Commissioned work, the more pictures the better. Smiling, profiles, silly moments, candid camera, sad, wide variety is best. It helps me get to know your personality. I will take as many as a hundred photo’s for one painting so feel free to tell me which you like the best and why, but send even the one’s you’re not crazy about.
Frames / Framing-
Unless specified, all paintings come unframed. The ones that are framed are typically built by me personally and are always Standard Black Studio type frames, which is all I use for my personal collection as well. This is typically a value-added feature as framing can cost as much as the painting in some cases. If you want a fancy frame, I would recommend;
I deliver all of my paintings dry to the touch but un-varnished (they can be safely handled). The paintings are considered technically Dry after 6 months and can be varnished at that time if you wish but no sooner. Varnishing is a matter of preference in the art world but does go a long way in protecting the paint from dust, dirt, etc when you think in terms of the painting lasting generations. For more information on varnishing click HERE for details, How-to's and other information that may be helpful in determining if it's right for your painting. Both Varnished and Unvarnished paintings can be wiped with dry, clean, oil and chemical-free cloth or duster. Never use chemicals to clean your painting. As always, feel free to contact me anytime with your questions.
Charity / Donations / Auctions-
I do two paintings a year for charitable causes and would gladly consider a request from you. Simply let me know the background of the charity, why it means so much to you, and what you think may be a “perfect fit” for the charity. If selected, I would like a receipt for the sale price of the painting so that I could let Uncle Sam know.
Satisfaction-
I sell my paintings typically as a result of someone saying “You’ve got to see this!”. With that said, your satisfaction is important to me. I work to a vision I have (and I hope that vision is why you came to me). I send compositions prior to performing any Commissioned work to ensure we are on the same page, if from there we stray, I’ll work with you for your satisfaction. I make no guarantees, but I’m yet to disappoint.
Goat Wrestling-
I was hoping this would grab your attention. Just wanted you to know that I’m a very down to earth person with a good sense of humor but also very honorable and ethical (no I haven’t ever wrestled a goat). I love what I do and I hope you will enjoy it as well
